from penny, apr. 29

good morning  .. 34 degrees out here.. but no frost, so the tender things are still happy.  the morning light filtering through the trees picks up the dew droplets on the grass - sparkling like millions of little diamonds.  diamonds in the rough... that's you kiddo. getting that sparkle back.   i had hoped to get in to visit today and to meet kate... but it will have to be next time.  my sister came down to visit from vermont last night so i have sister company.  sisters are pretty cool.  yesterday we had the arbor day celebration with friends of the trees.  they planted a huge elm at legion common  and we gave our $2500 from the garden club to friends of the trees.  it was much appreciated of course.  we had a good crowd and everyone said nice things about the garden club ladies.  (well how could they not!!!)  dean peterson was there.  he has moved and bought a farm near his daughter in vermont. he says hello and hopes you're home soon.  such a sweet man.  we finished the last burn of the year yesterday.... good to get that done.  the groton road race is today.. so we will hunker down since as you know you can't get anywhere when the race is on. its a spectacular day for it though..cool and crisp. tomorrow sue and i and a small crew are going to weed in your garden..and then we'll be in for a visit wednesday.  it is supposed to warm up later this week.. i hope so because maybe then you can go outside!!!!  yeehah!  see you soon.. much love p
